Ukraine says Gazprom boosts request for gas transit to Europe
KIEV, Jul 6 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom has increased its transit request through Ukraine to the E.U. to 272 million cubic meters daily, a multiyear record for a non-heating season, gas transportation system operator Ukrtransgaz said in a statement on Thursday.
The pipeline operator said that Gazprom began raising gas transit via the country in April. It shipped 214 million cubic meters of gas in March, 245 million cubic meters daily in April, 249 million cubic meters in May, around 250 million cubic meters in June and 269.5 million cubic meters in early July.
Russia’s gas transit through the territory of Ukraine rose 21% on the year in January-June to a record of the past six years, the statement read.
